Fotoworkshop auf den Färöer Inseln

Alle, die meine fotografischen Projekte begleiten, wissen es natürlich - ich liebe den rauen Norden.

Ein Besuch der Färöer Inseln stand also schon lange auf meiner Wunschliste. Über 1.000 km Küstenlinie mit stockwerkartigen, bis über 800 Meter hohen Bergen locken zur Erkundung.

Diese vom Wetter gezeichnete einsame Landschaft lässt mich durchatmen, gibt mir die Ruhe und Zeit meine Gedanken zu ordnen.

Und schon nach ein paar Tagen ist der oft stressige Alltag in weite Ferne gerückt.

All those who accompany my photographic projects know it of course - I love the rough north. So a visit to the Faroe Islands has long been on my wish list. More than 1000 KM coastline with storey-like mountains up to 800 meters high lure to explore. This lonely landscape, marked by the weather, lets me breathe deeply, gives me peace and time to order my thoughts. And already after a few days the often stressful everyday life is far away.

Ja, es mag stimmen, der rauhe Norden fordert den Menschen, die dort leben, einiges ab.

Aber der Norden belohnt einen auch mit so Vielem.

Deshalb war ich von Martins Idee, einen weiteren Workshop auf den Färöer Inseln anzubieten, sofort begeistert.

Er kennt die Inseln sehr gut und wie immer reisen wir Tage vorher an, um den Workshop vorzubereiten.

Als Reisezeit haben wir uns den Monat Oktober ausgesucht.

Warum ausgerechnet der Oktober, mögt Ihr nun denken? Schließlich ist er einer der regenstärksten Monate auf den Färöern. Und das will schon was heißen…

Ganz einfach - im Oktober trifft man auf den Färöern kaum noch Touristen und mit ein wenig Glück sind die Bergkuppen schon schneebedeckt.

Yes, it may be true, the harsh north demands a lot from the people who live there. But the North rewards you with so much. That's why I was immediately enthusiastic about Martin's idea to offer another workshop on the Faroe Islands. He knows the islands very well and as always we arrive days in advance to prepare the workshop. As travel time we chose October. Why October do you like to think now? After all it is one of the rainiest months on the Faroe Islands. And that means a lot... Very simple - in October you hardly meet any tourists on the Faroe Islands and with a little luck you can catch the mountain tops already covered with a little snow.

Schnell war alles geplant, das Hotel gebucht, der Leihwagen reserviert. Nun mussten nur noch die Teilnehmer gefunden werden.

Gemäß unseres Mottos “Small groups - Great moments”, wollten wir in einer sehr kleinen Gruppe von maximal 6 Teilnehmern (plus Martin und ich als Dozenten) reisen.

Nur so hat man viel Zeit für jeden einzelnen Teilnehmer und kann auf die individuellen Wünsche und Fragen in entspannter Atmosphäre eingehen.

Überrascht hat uns die große Resonanz - nach nur 10 Tagen war die Reise ausgebucht.

Um es vorweg zu sagen - die Gruppe war einfach unglaublich toll. Wir hatten sagenhaften Spaß, viel Glück mit dem Wetter und einige der Teilnehmer sehen wir nun auf dem Lofoten-Workshop im Februar 2020 wieder.

Die Färöer sind landschaftlich schon sehr speziell.

Speziell ist aber vielleicht das falsche Wort - ersetzen wir es lieber durch wunderbar, atemberaubend und beeindruckend!

Everything was quickly planned, the hotel booked, the rental car reserved. Now only the participants had to be found. According to our motto "Small groups - Great moments", we wanted to travel in a very small group of maximum 6 participants (plus Martin and me as guides). This is the only way to have a lot of time for every single participant and to be able to respond to individual wishes and questions in a relaxed atmosphere. We were surprised by the high demand, after only 10 days the trip was fully booked. To say it in advance - the group was just incredibly great. We had fabulous fun, good luck with the weather and we will see some of them again at the Lofoten Workshop in February 2020. The Faroe Islands are very special in terms of landscape. Special is perhaps the wrong word - let's replace it with wonderful, breathtaking and impressive!

Wir wohnten in der kleinen Stadt Tórshavn und haben von hier sternförmig die Inseln erkundet.

Das Wetter war fantastisch. Von Sonne bis hin zu tiefschwarzen Wolken wurde uns alles geboten. Geregnet hat es übrigens nur sehr selten und wenn dann nur kurz.

Abends bietet Tórshavn genug Alternativen um zusammen etwas zu essen und danach noch in einen kleinen und urgemütlichen Pub zu gehen.

Insgesamt eine tolle Reise, die wir definitiv im Oktober 2020 wiederholen werden.

Meine neue Kamera, die Sony Alpha A7RIV, hatte ich nun auch zum ersten Mal mit auf einer Fotoreise. Sie hat bei mir die Alpha A7RIII abgelöst und ich bin von den Ergebnissen absolut begeistert. In Kombination mit den 24-120G, 16-35G und 70-300G Objektiven ein durchaus kompaktes und leichtes System, welches ich gut auf langen Wanderungen mitnehmen kann.

We lived in the small town of Tórshavn and from here we explored the islands in a star shape. The weather was fantastic. From sun up to deep black clouds everything was offered to us. By the way, it rained very seldom and if only for a short time. In the evening Tórshavn offers enough alternatives to have something to eat together and afterwards to go to a small and cosy pub. Altogether a great trip which we will definitely repeat in October 2020. I had my new camera, the Sony Alpha A7RIV, with me for the first time on a pure photo trip. It has replaced the Alpha A7RIII and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. In combination with the 24-120, 16-35 and 70-300 a quite compact and lightweight system, which I can take along also well on long hikes.
